FAQ

Common questions.

The answers people ask us most — distilled from thousands of conversations with applicants like you.

French is not strictly mandatory, but it is very heavily weighted in Quebec's selection grid. Applicants with strong French skills (B2 or higher on TEF/TCF/DELF) score significantly higher. Without French, you would need very high scores in other factors to be competitive.

A CSQ (Certificat de sélection du Québec) is Quebec's provincial selection. After receiving a CSQ, you still need to apply to the federal government (IRCC) for permanent residence. The CSQ confirms you meet Quebec's requirements; the federal stage confirms medical/security admissibility.

No. Express Entry is for applicants who intend to live outside Quebec. If you want to settle in Quebec, you must go through Quebec's own immigration programs (like the QSWP, PEQ, or Quebec business programs).
