How it works

Application process.

From first review to landing — a calm, well-paced journey, mapped out step by step.

1

Choose a PNP Stream
1–14 days

Research the available streams and determine which one best matches your skills, work experience, and qualifications.

2

Apply to the Province/Territory
1–30 days

Submit your application to the province or territory's PNP. This may be an online Expression of Interest (EOI) system or a direct application.

3

Receive Provincial Nomination
30–180 days

If selected, you'll receive a nomination certificate from the province. For Express Entry-linked streams, this adds 600 CRS points to your profile.

4

Apply for Federal PR
1–60 days

Apply for permanent residence through Express Entry (with 600 nomination points) or through the paper-based non-Express Entry process.

5

Federal Processing & Decision
120–570 days

IRCC processes your PR application. Express Entry stream is typically faster (~6 months). Non-Express Entry can take 15-19 months.

FAQ

Common questions.

The answers people ask us most — distilled from thousands of conversations with applicants like you.

A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile. Since the maximum CRS score from other factors is approximately 600, having a PNP nomination virtually guarantees you will receive an Invitation to Apply in the next Express Entry draw.

Yes, you must have a genuine intention to live and work in the province or territory that nominates you. If you receive PR and then move to another province, the nominating province may withdraw future nominations or it may affect future immigration applications.

While there is no explicit rule preventing you from applying to multiple PNPs simultaneously, it is not recommended. Provinces may check if you have pending applications elsewhere, and applying to multiple provinces may raise concerns about your genuine intent to settle in a specific province.
